It has been quite a long since when the first academy award function was held. It all began on May 16, 1929. The venue was at Roosevelt hotel in hollywood. It was the famous art director Cedric Gibbons who designed a model depicting a man with crusader’s sword standing on a film reel. Later it was moulded into 14 carrot gold with 13-1/2 inch at the base and weighing around 8 pounds. Now, 80 years have rolled by since it all began without fanfare, while today it is an international event watched by millions around the globe.
